Daily Routines

A typical day at SLC includes:

Free Choice

This is a segment of time when the children engage in self-directed play, while teachers facilitate learning. All areas of the room are accessible to the children during this time, including: table top activities, art, sensory table, dramatic play area, blocks, reading corner, writing center and the science table.

Large Motor Play

Children spend 30 minutes of every day in our Bike Room, our full-size gym or at Raymond Park. The age of the children and the weather determines where each class will go on a given day.

Group Time

Children may listen to or act out a story, sing, and have group discussions during this time. The length of Group Time varies according to what is developmentally appropriate for the age of the class.

Snack

The school provides an allergen-free snack for all of the children and families take turns providing 100% juice or fresh fruit for the class.

Enrichment

Every week, children enrolled in the Threes and Pre-K classes receive 30 minutes of music with Jeanie B! or science with Merle Fippinger. The two year old classes receive music enrichment beginning in January.
