Carol Teske

Carol Teske, Director, is a 30-year veteran in the field of education and has more than 10 years experience as an administrator with the school.  In her role as Director, Carol works closely with parents and teachers to ensure the goals and mission of SLC are upheld.  She supports and supervises the 25 teachers and three administrative staff members of SLC, as well as manages financial resources. Before becoming Director, Carol was a teacher at SLC for 6 years, focusing on the inclusion of children with special needs.  In addition, Carol served as Director of Operations and Financial Coordinator for the Center for Independent Futures, an Evanston based not-for-profit organization that helps individuals with disabilities access the skills and opportunities to realize full lives. She currently serves on its Board of Directors.

Carol is an active member of many professional organizations, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  She has served in numerous leadership roles, including President and Vice President, for the Evanston Early Childhood Council.  Carol holds an Illinois Director’s Credential and recently graduated from Leadership Evanston XIX. Carol holds a M.Ed in Elementary Education with a Learning Disabilities Certificate from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Purdue University.  Carol resides in the Evanston area and has three children, all alums of SLC.

Chrissy Cornell
Associate Director/Inclusive Education Coordinator

Chrissy Cornell, Associate Director and Inclusive Education Coordinator, is a child development specialist with more than 10 years of experience in the field of early childhood education.  In her role as Associate Director, Chrissy serves as the on-site daily coordinator and registrar.  Additionally, she helps set policies and maintains quality programming at SLC.

Before becoming the Associate Director, Chrissy was a Student Intern, an Inclusive Education classroom assistant, and a teacher at SLC.  She has served on the SLC Governing Board since 2005.  Chrissy received her Illinois Director's Credential in 2002 and participates in numerous professional development activities, including the Evanston Early Childhood Director's Council.  She holds a M.Ed through the Erikson Institute and a BA in Interpersonal Communication.  Chissy is the proud parent of two young children, one of whom has a disability, both alums of SLC.
